CBT is tremendously powerful, and offers a high level perspective on the self. The "mood equation" and simplification of cognitive understandings of emotions is unparalleled in the western world. I underwent CBT for over 2 years, digesting and learning just about every tool it has to offer, which are tremendous. The Cognitive Appraisal of Emotions and "Mood Equation" are central.
